Day 21. Gold Beach, OR to Crescent City, CA

Another nice day starting with a cool morning in the low 50's but warming up into the 60's by the afternoon. We left Gold Beach around 9am and arrived in Crescent City, CA  at 4:30 for a 59 mile day.

After about 15 miles we stopped to stretch our legs at Meyers Creek Beach and get a closer look at some of the ocean rock formationa that are called stacks or sea stacks.

We'd been bumping into this German couple off and on the last couple of days and today we had a chance to chat. Heinrich and Sabine started their bicycle tour in Seattle and are headed to San Francisco before heading back to Germany.  It's pretty cool to see so many Europeans getting to know the US on a bike seat.

With the tide out this morning we took a little walk on the beach to see these amazing sea stacks we've seen all down the Oregon coast.

Just south of Brookings where I put some new Schwalbe tires on Angela's bike we passed this camp for the forest fire fighters. It was a large camp but clearly down in the number of firefighters as the weather has improved and many are going back home.

Phase II is complete. About 410 miles from Astoria, OR to Crescent City, CA. Good bye Oregon Coast. You were great!!

And here we are at the California state line. British Columbia, Washington and Oregon are now behind us. Now we will see California from tip to toe!
