A 66 mile day to Depoe, still enjoying nice Autum weather, finishing up at Surfrider Resort around 5pm, a challenging but good day.
Departing the Shilo Inn just before 9.
Saturday morning at Netarts Bay with everyone headed out to go fishing.
We met Marco and Sophie from Germany on the first long climb of the day. They are riding from Portland to San Francisco. I wanted to ask Marco why Sophie wasn't carrying any gear but figured he must have a good reason for it. 🤔
Our first break of the day after about 20 miles at Sand Lake. Everyone at this tiny spot were characters, including the oldest gentleman, Pat who was 94 years old. Quite a guy.
Getting ready for our second big climb of the day before leaving the beautiful Oregon coast.
Good bye Pacific. We'll see you again further south at the end of the day.
Which way To go? We'll stay on the Three Capes Scenic Route towards Pacific City.
Our second climb was on Old Scenic 101, a reasonable and steady climb which we had to ourselves for 10 miles. Beautiful.
Near the top of our climb we stopped to view the National Forest and give our Swedish Fish some fresh air before I ate it.
More beauty on the mossy one lane bridge on Old Scenic 101.
The tide is starting to come back in at Lincoln City. Only 10 more miles to go.
After getting cleaned up in our room we got a drink at the hotel bar overlooking Depoe Bay and watched a pod of whales playing and rising in the waves. A great finish to a great day.
