We left Duluth around 8:30 and wound our way east and a little south 200 miles to Bill and Colleen's comfortable lake home in Three Lakes, WI. The morning in Duluth as well as when we traveled east along the southern shore of Lake Superior was cool, with very low clouds or lake fog. As we started to veer more to the east and south blue skies and sun popped out for the rest of the day.
Bill, Rick L. and Rick G. ready to mount their rides and depart the comfy and a potential historical site in the near future, the Duluth Downtown Motel.
Rick L. led the way today and wisely chose an early break stop at this very nice Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center about 60 miles into our ride. They had excellent exhibits on the Great Lakes historical geology and history and a nice 360 view from the 3rd floor deck. They also had hot coffee too!!
We again stayed mostly on secondary roads that often curved their way through the woods and around the many lakes. There definitely is more traffic and commerce since we hit Duluth as the population density increases. Plus today was a Friday and we're fully into summer vacation season in northern Wisconsin.
After 6 days on the road I was ready for a shorter day. We'll spend 2 nights here relaxing and visiting the local scene including a beer festival tomorrow. But for now, I am doing nothing but chilling on this wonderful chair and dock with a Jameson on ice. . 🥃
Ahhhhhh........
Rick G. fishing out on the dock.
A float plane lands on the lake.
Rick catches a young Pike.
I catch a tick. Or rather a tick catches me!
Watching the sun sink lower in the sky over the lake as the day draws to a close. Tomorrow we enjoy ourselves by taking it easy.
