A 55 mile day on beach paths and side streets with lots of bike lanes. Great SoCal weather. Sweet.
Angela is eager to get on the road, all packed up and ready to ride at 9am.
The Santa Barbara bike path heads east into the clearing skies.
A beautiful bike trail along the 101 near Carpenteria. Apparently today was "club ride day" in the area and lots of old white guys were out either riding their bikes or filming a Flomax commercial instead of working. They were all cool and friendly and gave us some advice a few times.
Getting near Ventura and we're all smiles today.
I was happy because I had one of the best fish tacos ever and my first "day" beer, a Pacifico, on this trip at Spencer Makenzie's in Ventura. Excellent.
So much sun today that in the afternoon Angela doubles up with another dose of sunscreen.
There always time for a Frappuccino at Starbucks on a warm afternoon, this one in Port Hueneme.
Just after passing Point Mugu (pronounced like the nearly blind cartoon character Mr. Magoo) we're less than a mile away from our campsite on the beach.
Heating up water for our dinner tonight, Italian Pepper Steak and Vegetables. It was good.
Watching the sun set over the Channel Islands after dinner. All I needed was a beer and it would have been a perfect ending to a great day.
The moon rises over fishing boats slowly trolling off the shore hoping to catch some squid with the help of their big lights.
I don't always listen to music but today, when I did, I always listened to Tom Petty.
A sad day yesterday as Tom Pertty passed away at 66 after going into cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu which we'll pass through tomorrow. He was one of my favorites, had a great career and will be missed. I'll always keep Runnin Down a Dream, thanks Tom!!
