Day 2: Procida to Ischia

After our night on board in the marina we spend sometime familiarizing ourselves with the boat and the many systems that serve us.

10am and we’re familiarized and ready to go, except we have not gotten our replacement engine for our dinghy.  No dinghy, no fun shore excursions, so we shift to Italian time.

Around 10:30 Luigi (sorry Luigi, I thought you’re name was Guido yesterday) and Roberta from SailItalia) show up with our new motor named Caroline.  She tests fine so good bye to Bonnie,  and we’re ready to go.

We were berthed in a very tiny slot and very little room to make a 90 deg. turn to get out of our slip but thanks to Steve’s skill and the use of the bow thrusters we are soon out safely and making our way to open waters.

Our forecast today was for rain which proved true, especially as we motored the 10 or so miles to our spot for the night, Saint Angelo, on the south side of Ischia, where we encountered a short downpour. Because of the near constant drizzle today we decided to motor the short distance. After an hour the sun was out and by 3 there was not a cloud in the sky.

We motored from the east side of Procida to Saint Angrelo.

At sunset, after our naps, beers in the cockpit prepare us for the pace of a slow Italian dinner as the sunsets over Saint Angelo.

Probably our most challenging task for the day was to get our dinghy off of the bow, into the water, and get Caroline mounted onto the dinghy without losing one or both into 10 meters of water.  The team pulled together, threw a line around Caroline (just in case) and in about 15 minutes we had transportation into the marina of Saint Angelo for dinner.

We had a great meal of fish and lobster with plentiful wine at Dal Pescatore (From the Fisherman) and great service.

As the half moon starts to set in the west we wander back to the dinghy dock and motor into the night to find Saint Michele in the bay and prepare to be rocked to sleep by the sea. Hopefully just not too much rocking!!
