Day 15. Riding the storm out in Newport, OR

A very short day of 18 miles to Newport through morning mist, then light drizzle and finally rain and wind.

Early out of Depoe Bay we were staying pretty dry and enjoying the beautiful coast line.

We got on a one way road just off the 101 for a very quiet and panoramic ride in the coastal forest.

We were able to see more whales a couple of times along the way and even more whale watching boats just off the coast.

Just about 5 miles north of Newport where we've been planning a down day to ride out the rainy storm that's been forecasted for days. Ironically this point where we stopped to check out the view is called Cape Foulweather. How perfect.

And the rain starts coming down in ernest as we ride into Newport.

We got to the hotel at 11:30, to early to check in, so we had a great brunch sitting at the bar looking out over the Pacific.  With only 18 miles of exercise today we'll have to moderate our calorie intake. We'll start after this brunch!!
