We got a late start around noon and crossed the International Bridge from Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario then headed east calling it quits when we got to Sudbury, Ontario, 200 miles at around 7pm.

Saying good by to my riding buddy Rick Giles who departs the hotel around 9am to head black to the ranch in Buffalo, WY. His plan was to ride west through Canada, north of Lake Superior. You're a great riding buddy Rick. I had a great time with you and wish you an enjoyable and safe ride home!!

Crossing the St. Mary's River north from the hotel on the International Bridge to the Canadian Border Crossing.

It looks like the US is trying to rebuild the bridge between it and Canada. A metaphor?

Stretching his legs while we wait for the bridge to open up, my new riding buddy Dave Chastain is a happy camper after his 10 hour sleep last night.

The Canadian Border Control from the Canadian side. I'm smiling because I know that Dave, still back there with the agent, is experiencing first hand the surly, non-friendly interrogation like I just had. I thought people were nicer in Canada, eh?
Coming through Border Control I kept looking for a great big sign and maple leaf flag saying " WELCOME TO CANADA!!" Nope, nothing, not even a tiny sign. I had to wait until I was pulling into Sudbury before I found a suitably big and impressive Canadian flag.

I spent about an hour across the border buying and initialIzing my new Canadian SIM card. If anyone reading this cares, my Canadian number for the next couple of weeks is
705-551-8974.

Chasing Dave around a curve in the Ontario country side.

We skirted just north of Lake Huron for the first hour or so. This was the best picture of the lake I could grab. It's also a handsome picture of my finger. 👏👏

The day got pretty warm late into the afternoon. Chastain is wrestling with taking his coat off and securing it safely to his bike at a little general store we stopped at.

Our home for the night, the Quality Inn in Sudbury. It's was a decent older hotel in an area that was trying to become trendy again.

A very short walk from our hotel was the Bridge of Nations. We couldn't figure out the International nature of Sudbury, stuck in the middle of Ontario, but there it was! Lots of pretty flags.

We found one of the new, trendy places a few minutes walk away. It offered Italian food with a little edge to it. In fact, the food was excellent and our server Jennifer did a nice job of taking care of us. While we hoped to see more activity in the steeet in front of us, Monday nights in Sudbury appear to be quiet.

The name of our restaurant, Respect is Burning, is the name of a Parisian club song the owner Gregory apparently liked. Ironically the restaurant has caught fire three times in 12 years, burning completely once. Go figure.
Now I'm off to bed. Tomorrow we head east towards Ottawa and Montreal.
