Day 12. Quebec City, Part Deux

We decided to take a day off from riding and take in a little of Quebec City.  Meanwhile our motorcycles were stabled safely in the Le Jardin.
On the south side of city overlooking the St. Lawrence. This area was where forts were first built in the late 1700's to keep either the British or French away, depending who had control of the city at the time.  That's an oil tanker and refinery in the background.

Another cargo ship streaming towards the sea
Le Chateau Frontenac, one of the most famous sights in Quebec City and said to be one of the most photographed hotel in the world because of its architecture and is prominence on the Quebec skyline.  600 rooms and 18 floors. very impressive.

"Old Quebec" maintains a wall surrounding the city from the old days.

Probably the best meal I've had on the trip was lunch today during our walkabout. Le Veau d'Or  (The Golden Calf) offered us Osso de Bucco pork with soup, desert and coffee for $15. We enjoyed it on the patio.  Later in the evening we recommend the place to 3 ladies from Ohio and they were not impressed.  I'm thinking perhaps I'm not a good judge of dining.  Surprised anyone?

Down days are laundry days.  Chastain here working on his fluff and fold technique.

Wait, there's more!! Not only did we wash clothes, we got the upfront and personal experience of watching them lay asphalt just outside the laundromat.  It was actually pretty cool to watch them, like 3D Discovery Channel.

And here we have our wonderful host Caroline from the St. Augustine B&B learning first hand from Dave that she doesn't speak English very well, and pretty much nobody does in Quebec that we've met so far and what is wrong with people in Quebec?  So we're making big strides in building international understanding and strengthened relationships on our trip too!

  1. Looks like a great trip !!!

But that sure is a lot of eating for someone spending their time just sitting on their butt and letting a machine do all the work for them - good thing you've got those nightly 'walkabouts' ;)
